Carlota Santos

Carlota Santos is an illustrator, artist, architect, and writer. Her work emerges from a convergence of interests cultivated since childhood, including Greek mythology, nineteenth-century ornament, literature, art history, opera, magic, alchemy, and Christianity. These elements intertwine through meticulous detail, symbolism, and a personal sensibility that consistently seeks beauty, narrative depth, and a sense of wonder.

My inspirations

  • Medieval Heritage

    A reservoir of myth, symbolism, and visual storytelling. Sacred narratives, legendary figures, and a richly ordered imagination shape my view of the world through the study of other historical periods and the search for universal truths.

    From nineteenth-century decorative traditions to classical mythology and its later reinterpretations, operatic and literary traditions inform my approach grounded in detail, symbolism, and a sustained pursuit of beauty.
