Odalisque operates as a device of symbolic and perceptual displacement. The figure, expanded beyond human proportion, irrupts into the space as an oversized body that destabilizes the traditional relationship between viewer and image. Scale, here, is not a formal accident but a critical strategy that reconfigures the way the odalisque—historically confined to the ornamental frame and projected desire—inhabits the visual field.

The enlargement of the body does not celebrate monumentality, but rather subverts the hierarchy of the gaze. The figure is no longer a small object contained within a scene, but an agent that dominates and redefines the exhibition space. Its suspended gesture does not seek to seduce, but to occupy.
